At FVAP, we believe in justice for all.
But in recent weeks, our immigrant communities have been targeted. Our ethnic and religious minority communities have been targeted. People of color have been targeted. Gender-nonconforming, trans, and queer folks have been targeted. Women have been targeted.
When those in power try to silence, discredit, and victim-blame survivors of violence and abuse, FVAP will be there to level the playing field, to empower survivors and help them get the safety and justice they so deserve.
When there is nowhere to turn...
Far too often, trial courts rule in favor of abusers, denying the protection of a restraining order to an abuse survivor, or granting child custody to an abusive parent. These decisions put kids and abuse survivors in danger.
FVAP is the only organization in California -- and one of only a few in the country -- dedicated to appealing bad trial court decisions on behalf of domestic violence survivors, for free.
Ensuring safety and justice for all
FVAP empowers domestic violence survivors through the court system, ensuring that they and their children can live in safe, healthy environments, free from abuse.
We level the playing field between abusers and their victims by providing high-quality appellate legal representation to survivors, for free. Because after all they've been through, domestic violence survivors deserve safety and justice.
Changing California Law
Through our ground breaking Case Publication Program, FVAP is setting new legal precedent across California to ensure our law does what it is supposed to: keep children and survivors safe.
** We have already raised $25,000 toward our goal! All donations up to the next $10,000 raised will be doubled by a matching donation from a generous supporter.
