Our new nonprofit helps people with a range of disabilities have a higher quality of life through our affordable and professionally-managed pooled special needs trust. Donations will allow us to reach more people in L.A.
“As a young adult with a rare and disabling condition, I am heavily dependent on Medi-Cal for all of my medical treatments. Since Medi-Cal limits assets to only $2,000, I panicked when I received $45,000 in a legal settlement after an injury in a car accident. I needed a local pooled trust that could quickly help me out to make sure I could keep both the settlement money and my Medi-Cal. The caring staff at JLA Trust are helping me to be independent and empowered to live my life to the fullest”—Cheryl, 27
Your year-end gift of $25 or more will help us expand our services to help more clients like Cheryl, who face a terrible dilemma whenever they get more than $2,000. Please support our vital work to help more people with disabilities keep their essential government benefits.
JLA Trust & Services is a new community-based nonprofit, created to ensure that people with disabilities can obtain a high quality of life by leveraging the power of community to assist with financial security and peace of mind. While we are rooted in the Jewish community, we are open to all faiths, ethnicities, disability type and sexual/gender identities.
“Thank you for taking such good care of me”-

Clients enroll in our affordable, easy-to-access and professionally managed pooled special needs trusts and receive personalized support and the highest level of fiduciary oversight. Our 80 enrolled clients have pooled assets of $4.5 million, and we are adding more clients every week.
Over time, a combination of fees for service and retained trust amounts will allow us to be self-sustaining, but in the meantime, we need your support to maintain and expand our high quality services throughout Los Angeles County.
“My grandparents were Holocaust survivors and I grew up in a very difficult family situation. For decades, I have been living with severe depression/anxiety, reduced hearing ability, major dental issues and terrible back pain, all paid by Medi-Cal. After my father died, I inherited some money from his estate. I needed help to my benefits, and JLA Trust was there to help me, even helping me purchase hearing aids. I am feeling more optimistic about my health, and in fact, I would like to start dating again!”
