At Camp Catanese, we firmly believe that ANYONE and EVERYONE should have the right to go to college and we will help them get there, regardless of the circumstances life has presented.  Camp Catanese strives to help inner-city high school students from 35 different high schools in Phoenix to overcome barriers and become the first in their families to go to college, and the remarkable thing is, we are actually doing it!  This can only continue to do this with your help!

For many of our campers, opportunities are severely limited by their zip code. Despite obstacles, a coalition of young professionals, community leaders, parents, Phoenix students, and college students from across the country have come together to execute an ambitious project — Camp Catanese. Camp Catanese is a one-week science, math, and college preparatory camp held at Arizona State University, where high school students receive information on how to access college in a fun and engaging setting. In 2016, our first year of camp, Camp Catanese served 150 campers.  In 2017, we had 240 campers and saw our first cohort of seniors go off to college.  In 2018, we had 300 campers.  In 2019, we have 300 more campers that are excited and ready to pursue a college degree!  With 100% of our graduated seniors from the classes of 2017 and 2018 in college or in the service, this camp is transforming what others believe is possible!

Every one of Camp Catanese’s over 1,000 campers the last three years have left more confident in their ability to attend college and FOLLOW THEIR DREAMS.  For many campers, college has been only a dream because of systemic barriers.  At the Camp Catanese Foundation, we envision a future in which opportunity and equality abound, in which income, race, and zip codes aren’t factors that predetermine life trajectory and that students receive an excellent education that will empower them in a country where socioeconomic mobility is attainable and not merely an antiquated ideal.  For this to be possible, WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Any donation, small or big, will help impact the lives of the campers we have come to know as our family.  We are asking for your support in our efforts.

We see our Camp and Foundation as a pivotal means to help all students endeavoring to attend college.  90% of the students that attend Camp will be first-generation college students.  Many of our campers have never set foot on a college campus.  Our model is unique because we have students living on a college campus, hearing from college admissions professionals about applying for scholarships, learning advanced math and science, and having fun together as a community.

We are already gearing up for Camp Catanese 2019.  We are humbly asking that you join our efforts by donating!  Through your donation, we are able to cover the cost of housing, food, educational supplies, and programming.   Your donation will also provide scholarships for our students to attend Camp Catanese and even give scholarships for students to attend high school or college.  Our first and second cohorts of seniors are in colleges from Northwestern to Arizona State!  Our third cohort of seniors, the class of 2019, has already received their admissions letters to college!  This opportunity is truly life-changing for our students, as they will have the knowledge, confidence, belief, and means to make attending college a reality!

Your belief in our students, and your generosity to allow our camping program to come to fruition is something that we are incredibly thankful for.  Thank you for believing in all students and their ability to attain an excellent education!
